busTRACE 9.0 allows you a method to view our CDB database. For example, want to quickly find out how an Inquiry CDB is structured? What is the opcode for a Write 10 CDB? To gain access to our CDB viewer, simply run the busTRACE Start Menu and choose the View Device Command Descriptor Blocks option.

The application itself is broken up into four sections: Device List, List of CDBs, Properties, and the Decoded CDB.

Device List

In the upper left pane, select the device type that you would like to view the available CDBs for.

List of CDBs

To the right of the Device List, a list of all recognized / decodable CDBs will appear. You can sort by opcode by clicking on the Opcode column header. You can sort by CDB name by clicking on the Command Descriptor Block column header.

Scroll to find the CDB you are interested in seeing and select it.

Properties

In the lower left pane, additional properties are available that you can edit.

CDB

You can adjust any of the CDB bits/bytes and see how the change is reflected in the Decoded CDB window.

Buffer Length

If you want to attach a data buffer for decoding, you can set the length here. Once the value is set, you can then click on the "Raw Data" tab and hex edit any of the bits/bytes to see how it is decoded in the CDB pane.

Decoded CDB

In the lower right pane, the fully decoded CDB is shown for you. If you have a Buffer Length set, you can also edit the data buffer to see how it is decoded in the CDB pane.
