busTRACE 9.0 allows you a method to submit an Identify command, to an ATA or ATAPI device, and to view the results. To gain access to our ATA/ATAPI Identify application, simply run the busTRACE Start Menu and choose the View ATA/ATAPI Identify information option.

The application itself is broken up into three sections: Device List, ATA/ATAPI Information, and the Decoded Identify Data.

Device List

The Device List shows you a tree list of all the ATA/ATAPI devices that busPROBE was able to detect on your system. Simply click on the device that you are interested in viewing information about.

ATA/ATAPI Information

Once you have selected an ATA or ATAPI device in the Device List pane, this window will show you the available options. Currently, the only option is to view the ATA or ATAPI Identify page. Once you select that option, the Decoded Identify Data directly below will be updated with the return data.

Decoded Identify Data

The retrieved ATA/ATAPI Identify page is shown in this pane. You have two tabs available. The Details tab will show you our decoding of the Identify page. The Raw Data tab will show you the raw 16-bit hex data (256 words) that was returned by the drive.
