busTRACE 8.0 includes decoding support for IEEE 1667 1.1 devices. This specification documents the Standard Protocol for Authentication in Host Attachments of Transient Storage Devices. This specification defines a standard protocol for authentication and creation of trust between a host and a directly attached Transient Storage Device (TSD), such as a USB flash drive, portable hard drive, or a cellular phone.

IEEE 1667 compliant devices implement the SECURITY PROTOCOL IN (SPIN) and SECURITY PROTOCOL OUT (SPOUT) commands as defined in the SPC-4 specification. A security protocol value of EEh, the IEEE 1667 Security Protocol identifier, is used. Within each SECURITY PROTOCOL IN and SECURITY PROTOCOL OUT CDB, the caller specifies the SILO_INDEX.

In order to know what the SILO_INDEX is referencing, busTRACE needs access to the Silo Type Identifiers (STID). These are found in the probe silo. busTRACE does not always know which Silo Type Identifier is pointed to by the SILO_INDEX value. If busTRACE encounters SPIN/SPOUT CDBs going to an IEEE 1667 device, and we are unable to determine which STID is pointed to by the SILO_INDEX value, we will automatically display the following window:

This window allows you to define the Silo Type Identifiers that are associated with a device and its Silo Index. You can add, remove, or edit the existing definitions. The information provided is cached within busTRACE so that you will not be prompted each time an IEEE 1667 SPIN/SPOUT is encountered.

You can also gain access to the IEEE 1667 Silo Type Identifiers window by selecting Edit->IEEE 1667 Silo Type Identifiers from the busTRACE main menu.
