busTRACE is able to capture I/O activity on your local Windows PC or on a remote PC connected to your local area network. What about if you're dealing with a customer that is located somewhere other than your location, and you would like to get a busTRACE capture of their system? If they own busTRACE then you're all set. Have them run busTRACE, save the results to a busTRACE capture file, and e-mail you the results.

What if the customer you are working with doesn't own busTRACE? That is where busTRACE Capture Clients will be useful. While your busTRACE subscription is active, you are entitled to allow your customers to visit the busTRACE web site to download a busTRACE capture client. A capture client is a small program that your customer can download and install on their system. The capture client features include:

• Easy to use Wizard interface
• I/O activity is automatically saved into a compressed busTRACE capture file
• Any owner of busTRACE 6.0 will be able to view the capture file
• Single bound executable with integrated installer/uninstaller
• No busTRACE Flash Drive required
• Compatible with Windows 2000 and above

To gain access to this feature, you would select Generate Capture Client from the Tools main menu (or select the equivalent toolbar button). A window similar to the following will appear:

You simply copy the provided URL to the clipboard and e-mail it to your customer. They can then download the capture client, capture I/O activity on their system, and e-mail you the busTRACE capture file.

NOTE: Advanced Filtering is always disabled in busTRACE Capture Clients and there is no option to enable it. Advanced Filtering is only available when running the full version of busTRACE 6.0.
